We are pleased to announce that we have recently received a ‘good’ rating as a result of inspections at two of our services.
In March we had two unannounced inspections and the inspector’s reports provide plenty of positive feedback on the services we offer for example:
“People using the service spoke positively about the staff who supported them. One person said, "Staff are good and kind, they listen to me." Another person told us, "Staff are nice and helpful." A professional told us they were happy with the way staff cared for the person they worked with at the service and that staff, including the manager, were helpful and caring. Our observations were in line with these comments.”
“We observed staff had built good relationships with people and had a good rapport with them. They spent time sitting and talking with people in an interested, considerate manner, checking they were receiving the necessary support.”
“People were involved in planning their own care and they received care according to their preferences and choices. People's care plans contained detailed information about their personal histories as well as their mental and physical health needs, hobbies, likes and dislikes which staff had obtained by asking people.”
“People told us they felt safe, one person said, "The staff are excellent, I feel very, very safe."”
“People spoke to us about the food positively. One person told us about their meal, "We have the best food here, better than a hotel. It's lamb tomorrow, we choose [our meals]." We observed a meal time and saw people received choice of food and drink with people eating different meals according to their preference.”
Whilst the majority of the findings of these inspections were positive there was one issue raised concerning window restrictors at Cherry Lodge. We have taken on board this feedback and immediately took action to improve the security of some of the windows to ensure that we are fully compliant with the expectations of the CQC.
Overall we are very proud of the result of these inspections and would like to thank all those that took part in the process and to our staff who, again, impressed the inspectors with their professionalism and compassion.
As with all inspections we must not rest on our laurels, there are always improvements to be made!
